A friend of mine had followed an obesity treatment with adjustable gastric banding and had told me about it.

Since I was 17 years old I have tried all kinds of treatments: shakes, acupuncture, mesotherapy, pills, … and despite that, I still struggle with weight. At this moment obesity was a serious problem, not only of health, but also of social and labour, since I was more exhausted, apathetic and with more difficulties to solve conflicts and of course with less desire for any leisure activity.

After wearing the adjustable gastric band, I have lost 37.5 kg in 12 months of treatment, so I feel much more agile, but for me is also very important the fact that now I feel more like relating and partying. I feel more agile and more dynamic. My relationship with food has also changed: “I have learned to eat to live, not to live to eat”, I am more selective when it comes to the foods I eat and I avoid those that provide me with more calories but are unnecessary in my daily diet, instead I choose healthier foods, but to my liking. From a psychological point of view, I have noticed an increase in self-esteem.

If I had to highlight any aspect of this treatment, it would be that I have not produced the anxiety or bad character that I had when I submitted myself to a diet of slimming and of course in addition to physical health I have improved my mental health, favouring social relationships.
